December Update - COVER REVEALS

It's official: I have no self control.

As I mentioned in the social media posts announcing this reveal, the stories themselves are really no closer to being done -- thanks to other things that have been vying for my free time, I haven't made much progress at all lately. Nevertheless, I'm so excited about these covers that I just can't wait any longer. As promised, here they are (click for larger view).

I caved and decided to go ahead and share the Embers cover today too, being as -- as you can see -- the two are nearly identical, and thus the Embers one wouldn't have been much of a surprise once the Fracture one was revealed. Obviously the color schemes and design elements are different on each of them, but that face layer is indeed the exact same, simply copied and pasted from one cover to another. It does look different because of the aforementioned color schemes and design elements, and at first that irritated me a little, but I've gotten to where I like it. The Embers one definitely has a little harsher look, or if not 'harsher,' more intense. The face layer is merely an altered version of this stock photo I've shared a couple of times, which was the main inspiration for Fracture in the first place (the moment I laid eyes on it, I knew I had to figure out a way to use it). I had originally planned on trying to get rid of the cracks for the Embers cover, but after a couple of failed attempts, I decided to just leave them the way they were because, despite being a new part of the story and a new chapter in the characters' lives, they'll probably never really go away ;)

I had also played with the contrast and saturation a little and came up with these "dark" versions of each cover, but after consulting a couple of trusty critique partners, I concluded that printing would be an absolute nightmare, especially with the Fracture one. I did an early test run with a few Fracture promo bookmarks just to see how the colors would turn out, and the regular version looks great.

Don't forget you can check out Chapter 1 of Fracture and a few fun facts about Embers here on my site. To stay up to date on the progress of these stories, check out the word meters in my sidebar, follow me on social media, or subscribe to my newsletter! I can't wait to be able to share these stories with you.

And if you're looking forward to the Legacy books but haven't picked up the main series, you can still get Dakiti, Nexus, and Ronan for just $0.99 apiece until December 4. Click the image below to find them on Amazon!
